Clockroot Books is an imprint of Interlink Publishing Group, Inc., a publishing house founded by Michel Moushabeck in 1987 and devoted to bringing voices from around the world, and especially Arab countries, to the US. In Northampton, Massachusetts, Clockroot is nestled in the hollow of a valley bordered to the west by Herman Melville’s whale-shaped mountain, and to the east by Emily Dickinson’s Amherst. The area’s vital literary present is anchored by the five colleges (Amherst, Hampshire, Mt. Holyoke, and Smith Colleges and the University of Massachusetts at Amherst), excellent bookstores, and so many writers, translators, professors, and readers that the New York Times called the Pioneer Valley “arguably the most author-saturated, book-cherishing, literature-celebrating place in the nation.”
