Peter Green
Renowned translator, historian, and writer Peter Green is Dougherty Centennial Professor Emeritus of Classics at the University of Texas–Austin and professor at the University of Iowa. He has published translations from classical and modern Greek, Latin, Italian, and French, including translations of Juvenal, Ovid, Catullus, Apollonios, and Yannis Ritsos. He is the author of an acclaimed
biography of Alexander the Great, among other works of nonfiction, and has also published his own poetry and fiction, including the novels
The Sword of Pleasure and
The Laughter of Aphrodite.
